Family Biliteracy

Parents and students learning together as part of Family Biliteracy program at the Family Center.

Continuing to develop a primary language is crucial to developing a strong English language proficiency.   The data proves the principle of transferability across languages and reinforces the idea that biliteracy helps both students and parents develop set skills they can use to engage in their multilingual and multicultural communities.

This unique partnership fosters the whole family working together in a school setting to demonstrate their linguistic knowledge as an asset for their children’s bilierate education. The Family Biliteracy program works with families using bilingual book titles. Through the literature, the family is validated and empowered and their projects depict their dedication and pride.
